Apprenticeship & Craft Training (more about this)
WTCABC is committed to a well-trained, well-educated construction workforce. To that end, we have operated an apprenticeship program since 1987 approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) of the U.S. Department of Labor. Our program currently offers apprenticeship in the electrical trade and is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
In addition to electrical apprenticeship, the West Tennessee Chapter offers Basic Commercial Carpentry and Advanced Commercial Carpentry. Click to see our curriculum for either carpentry or electrical or to review our admissions process and pattern standards. You may also download an application and other necessary forms by clicking here.
In addition to craft training, WTCABC is a certified skills assessment center and has the flexibility to design a craft training program to fit our members' specific needs. Skills assessment and performance evaluations can help you determine if employees are deficient in certain tasks and need additional training or can provide a valuable certification for highly qualified employees. Management Education (more about this)
The chapter's commitment to education extends to the management of our member companies. Through various management education seminars suggested by our membership, the chapter strives to enhance the effectiveness of management personnel. This year, the chapter is offering Blueprint Reading and Construction Estimating, using software furnished by MC2. A Superintendent Training course has also been added and is applicable to both general contractors and subcontractors. To view a course outline or to register, click here. The chapter will also offer Florida Continuing Education for contractors with a Florida license this summer. To learn more, contact Brenda Qualls at brenda@wtcabc.org.
