Committees
Membership – Develops strategies, programs and materials to recruit new members and retain existing members. Implements membership strategies outlined in strategic plan. Members expected to recruit at least one new member annually.
Meeting frequency : once per month

Legislative-PAC – Monitors, local, state and federal legislation. Communicates with elected and governmental officials to advance ABC’s positions on issues. Plans and participates in events and programs to raise funds for ABC PAC and the Free Enterprise Alliance. Interviews candidates for public office, distributes funds to supported candidates and recommends candidates for endorsement to the ABC Board of Directors. Committee members are expected to contribute a minimum of $150 to ABC PAC annually.

Professional Development – Develop and provide training and educational opportunities for management-level employees. Evaluate current programs to ensure they meet the needs of the membership. Assist in developing seminar tracks and securing instructors for the Commercial Construction Conference.

Finance – Assists in preparing budget for the Chapter. As needed reviews insurance, investments, benefits and assets and makes recommendations to the Board Directors about changes or policies relative to the finances of the Chapter.

Executive –Reviews chapter and education trust financials monthly. Provides guidance on chapter and trust policy matters. Makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Governance – Reviews and recommends changes to the governing documents and policies of the chapter. Considers the best practices of other not-for-profit entities and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding the most effective means of governing the organization.

Nominating – Announces impending election for officers and directors of the chapter. Accepts suggestions and nominations from the membership. Prepares a slate of candidates for open positions and communicates that slate to the membership.

Education Trust Board of Directors – Serves as the independent governing body of the association’s 501c3 Education Trust. Oversees the finances and sets policy relative to the trust and training programs. Serves as the Apprenticeship and Training Committee in accordance with our Department of Labor-registered apprenticeship standards.

Public Relations/Marketing – Develops a strategy in accordance with the strategic plan to promote the chapter, its program and events to the membership and general public. Seeks positive stories about ABC members and their employees to share with the public to improve the overall image of the industry. Assists with the promotion of WTCABC special events.

Golf – Plans and implements the Spring and Fall Golf tournaments.

Taskforces
Ask ABC – Ask ABC seeks to establish the chapter as the authority on issues related to commercial construction. The taskforce will assist in developing the strategy to position ABC as the “go to” for information on any commercial construction topic.
Meeting frequency: 5 to 6 meetings over 2 months
Availability: open to any WTCABC member

Certified Commercial Contractor – The taskforce will review the Certified Commercial Contractor designation, make recommendations for improvements and develop a plan to increase the number of contractors who participate.

Excellence in Construction – The Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony is the premier event for recognizing the projects of local contractors. After several years of the same format and level of participation, the taskforce will recommend ways to improve the event, increase the number of entries and promote the winners to a broader audience.

Technology – The technology taskforce will review the chapter website and social media applications recommend changes or upgrades needed to better serve and inform the membership.

Non-Dues Revenue – The healthiest associations are those that rely the least on dues as the primary source of revenue. This taskforce will consider best practices of other non-profits and associations and recommend initiative, products or services to generate non-dues revenue.
