Education
Apprenticeship(more about this)
ABC chapters across the nation are committed to a well-trained, well-educated construction workforce. To that end, the West Tennessee Chapter has operated an apprenticeship program since 1987 approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) of the U.S. Department of Labor. Our program is certified to offer courses in the electrical, carpentry and masonry trades and is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
In addition to apprenticeship, the West Tennessee Chapter is a certified skills assessment center and has the flexibility to design a craft training program to fit our members' specific needs. We currently offer a two-year, non-apprenticeship carpentry program that has been customized by local contractors for local contractors.
Management Education (more about this)
In addition to our apprenticeship program, the chapter's commitment to education extends to the management of our member companies. Through various management education seminars and short courses, the chapter strives to enhance the effectiveness of our members' management personnel. The chapter regularly offers Introduction to Blueprint Reading, Estimating for Commercial Construction, Project Management and Superintendent Training as our basic short course offerings. By year end, we will have offered more than 20, half-day, day-long or two-day seminars. To see a complete list of seminar and course offerings, click the management education link.
